Tour + Open House

Saturday, June 22, 11a-12p tour, 12p-2p open house

The farm tour will be led by Dawn and Cassius Spears, who will share on their journey to realizing Ashawaug Farm, the only Indigenous-run, Indigenous-owned farm in Rhode Island. You’ll learn about all the current happenings on the farm as well as their future aspirations and plans. If you miss the tour, you can still stop by afterwards for the open house.

Volunteer Day

Sunday, May 19, anytime between 10a and 4p

Work alongside Dawn and Cassius to tend the land: nurturing seedlings, preparing the soil, building vine supports, and more. We greatly appreciate your help, whether for an hour or the whole day. Many hand make light work! When you need a break, feel free to enjoy the back meadow and forest.

Neighborhood clean-up

Saturday, April 27, 10a-1p

Ashawaug Farm is participating in Hopkinton’s Earth Day Neighborhood Clean-up, where residents are encouraged to organize a clean-up day in their respective neighborhoods. Join us at Crandall Field, where we’ll have activities for kids and plants for sale. The Ashaway Free Library and Langworthy Library will have educational tables, and the Town of Hopkinton and Friends of the Hopkinton Land Trust will distribute clean-up supplies.

gARTen session

Thursday, September 14, 4:30-6:30p

gARTen sessions are all about creative expression inspired by the land. For two hours, we’ll simply enjoy the land and see what creativity comes! Photography, painting, poetry - the possibilities are endless. All ages and experience levels welcome. Bring your own supplies and supplies for sharing, if you’re able. Miscellaneous supplies will be available for community use.

Seed-saving workshop

Seed-saving is a millennia-old practice of food security, resource efficiency, and collaboration with nature. Different plants require different seed-saving methods, and different cultures have unique seed-saving techniques. Learn the different ways Ashawaug Farm saves their seeds for next year’s planting and get guided, hands-on practice.
